Responsive grid of fixed-size boxes

Build a web page that lays out fixed-size boxes in a grid that reflows as the window gets wider or narrower: as many boxes per row as fit, wrapping to new rows. Explain the CSS (or script) you use and how the layout behaves on very narrow and very wide screens.
