Longest equal length for cutting wood into K pieces

You get pieces of wood of different lengths. Cut them into at least K pieces that all have the same length; leftover bits may be thrown away. Return the largest length that works.

The interviewer kept asking follow-ups after the first solution: what changes when the input changes, and whether the complexity can go lower.
