Design a protocol for distributed transactions
A transaction must update data held by several independent services or shards, so that either all changes happen or none do. Design the protocol: how participants agree to commit, what happens when the coordinator or a participant crashes mid-way, timeouts and recovery, and when a saga with compensating steps is a better fit.
